Dental visits are important. Have you been wondering lately: Do you need to visit the dentist? How do you know? Let’s talk about knowing when you need to visit the dentist so you can make sure your teeth stay healthy and strong.

Emergency Visits

If you’re experiencing dental discomfort or a tooth appears cracked, chipped, or discolored, you’re probably feeling concerned. Do you need to visit the dentist or should you wait it out?

Your teeth shouldn’t hurt and any discomfort or change in the appearance of your teeth can be a sign of a serious condition. It’s important to address any dental concerns right away to help prevent them from turning into an infection and spreading to your surrounding teeth, gums, or jaw.

If you’re experiencing a dental concern, call your dentist to schedule an appointment and get it checked out as soon as possible!

Regular Exams

Regular dental exams are also important to help catch and prevent issues early before they turn into emergencies. Often, more serious problems like gum disease, cavities, or tooth decay begin as plaque build-up or gum irritation, and if spotted early enough, they can be treated so that they never become problems.

Routine Cleanings

When you get a dental exam, it’s also important to get a professional cleaning. Brushing and flossing your teeth at home is important, but it’s not uncommon to miss difficult-to-reach areas between your teeth, along your gum line, or behind your back molars. A toothbrush also cannot remove stains or hardened tartar build-up.

A dental hygienist has the special training and tools to effectively clean these difficult areas and scrape away tartar and stains to help you keep your teeth bright, healthy, and strong.

Call Your Dentist

Do you need to visit the dentist? Then don’t put it off! Call your dentist to schedule your next appointment so it’s on the books! Prioritizing your dental care is important to ensure that your smile stays its healthiest.

Call our Perryville Dental Office to make an appointment with a dentist who may be able to help you find out more about this topic, and improve your oral health.
